introduction

High atop the snow-covered peaks of the Darkreach mountains is a region that lays isolated from the rest of the world - the arctic Kingdom of Isakra. Though officially ruled by their deeply respected deity, Queen Daemis, she is as most Aymenian gods distant from the daily life of her people, leaving the ruling of the region in the hands of the kingdom's capable military forces. As one of the Foundational Five regions, the kingdom has had a well-established military presence for a very long period of time, which is something the Isakrian citizens take a lot of pride in. Having served the Isakrian army in some regard, be it providing food, assisting with travels, helping set up camps, or actively being on the battlefield, is seen as something which every person should have done at some point in their life - and without a serious injury or something of the kind to leave you with a good excuse for not doing so, the other citizens of Isakra would not consider you one of their own. Despite the expectation to have served the army, it still remains a pride to have done so, and military officers and people of similar standing are deeply respected within the community. Due to this, many people consider Isakra to be a somewhat hateful and demanding region, but in truth it is a very friendly place where people are happy to help each other out. They simply expect other people to do the same - and if you do not do your part to uphold the community, why should you be allowed to reap the benefits?

The people of Isakra tend to be strong willed, hardworking and community-focused. Most people here have varying levels of physical fighting abilities, though magic is not uncommon either.

Noteworthy Locations

As the region located at the highest points of Aymenia, the kingdom is covered in snow and ice - with mountains and a lot of elevation differences, as well as varying degrees of trees and small plants depending on how far up the mountains you are. In regards to architecture, you will find a few different approaches. The most common types of houses are simple but effective buildings of wood and stone, designed to keep heat in and cold out. Some places make use of the environment, making igloos and sometimes huts of ice and snow - some through the help of magical means, and some not, instead battling the cold using animal pelts and hide to keep the inside warm. Digging out holes in the mountains for more cave-like homes is also not unusual.

Mythirion

The capital of Isakra. Many people live here, and by a steep mountaintop is a castle built of stone and ice which can be seen from most parts of the city. It is partly a base where executives and leaders live and work, but certain parts of the castle are also open to the public and used as a meeting place during ceremonies and celebrations. As the capital, many of the houses here are bigger and more extravagant than most other places in Isakra, and there are tons of lights throughout the city, keeping it very bright even during the otherwise dark hours of the day.

Lighthelm

The main base for Isakra’s military operations and training grounds. The living conditions are very basic and simple, with a few exceptions for higher officers who might have a more standard house. Simple houses, huts, and sometimes tents are used for sleeping here - though few people live here for a longer period of time. Lighthelm is a part of Isakra’s military training, where the focus lies on spending most of your days having weapon practice, hunting or various other exercises. The ability to sleep for a longer period of time in a more uncomfortable place is also something that is important to prepare for, so while not actively uncomfortable, the houses and huts lack anything more than the necessities. Lighthelm is located in the lower parts of Isakra, closeby a forest with a high level of wildlife, making it a perfect location for hunting.

The peaks of Everhallow

Though initially one single peak, the peaks of Everhallow is a thin and tall mountain that is split down the middle, leaving one side slightly taller than the other. The mountain is magically infused after an attack during the multi-regional wars where it was briefly transformed into water, then refrozen. This has left the top half of the mountain to be almost entirely made out of ice - and additionally, it has a bright blue glow to it which can be seen from miles away, stretching itself upwards from the two peaks. Despite being incredibly beautiful, the peaks of Everhallow are remnants of an attack, and the magic kept within it is incredibly deadly - the area close by that once was a forest now being evened with the ground, destroyed by the suffocating magic. The tales of Everhallow sing of the ones who have gone too close to the peaks - never to be seen again, their bodies lost without a trace.
